Seth was great. Very professional. diagnosed the problem quickly and set up the follow up repairs and parts for us.
35/5uf dual run capacitor is reading 0/4.8uf. Compressor is not coming on with call for cooling. Replaced with new 35/5uf capacitor and test run operation. No other issues found while on site.
Upon arrival inspected unit and found 2nd floor system low 2.88lbs r410 a. End pressures 325-8°/128-20° 2nd floor. Threw guages on first floor due to shut down noise complaint, basement unit charge at 329-8°/123-10° no concerns on system compressor just oil loggs during shutdown and you can hear the compression. Performed leak search for 2nd floor system due to charge being sufficiently low and found no leaks on system. Delta T for 2nd floor at 23° airflow at 825cfm per homeowner request on noise complaints from higher speeds. All systems operational at this time.
Replace one flow center circ pump Replace two HWG circ pumps Second floor split system Replace right side flow center B&G 3-speed pump, test run, set ground loop water pressure at 50 psi Install and test run replacement hot water generator circulator pump First floor package system Replace hot water generator circulator pump and test run
Found that water was coming from condensation on outside of the drain pipe from dehumidifier. Raised dehumidifier up on rubber pads to increase drain slope to avoid water sitting in the drain line. Also recommend getting a standalone dehumidifier for unfinished section of basement as there are no vents and the door stays shut. Air reading in the basement showed air temperature of 71F, relative humidity of 58%, and a dew point of 55F. Water coming from dehumidifier was approximately 45-50F, and below the dew point, in turn causing condensation. Lowering the humidity and dew point in the room will ensure that no condensation will build up on the outside of the pipe.
Performed cooling maintenance Replaced 20x25x4 filter with one provided with the gold maintenance plan Blower is OK Evaporator coil is clean Drain is clear Adjusted blower speed to match capacity of AC Closed humidifier bypass damper Refrigerant charge good: 10⁰ subcool Tore down and washed Condenser coil Capacitor tested 57/5mfd 23⁰ temperature drop across evaporator coil System operating within factory specifications at this time.
Inspection of split unit showed failed 45uf capacitor. Replace with new 45uf capacitor and test run operation. Previously quoted repairs are highly recommended as stress on the compressor due to loop flow coils have caused this but there is no definite answer.
Cooling preventative maintenance performed Check filter - 20x25x4 new today gold Check coil for any buildup debris in drain pan and flush with water Set up thermometers Rinse down outdoor coil with garden hose Check capacitor MFD - 59.3+4.89 Check OD fan Amp - 1.13 Check compressor Amp - 11.12 Verify pressures and HP-SC/LP-SH 297-10.5/113-12.3 Delta T - 19° The Air handler and AC are in optimal running conditions.
Second floor water leak inspection Disassemble front panels of air handler for full access to the evaporator coil and drain pan. Visual inspection confirms no blockages or debris anywhere in the drain system at the second floor level. Freshwater flush second floor 3/4pvc drain system and drain trap with 5 gallons freshwater to confirm no leaks Run test cooling mode at 51° supply temperature Coil condensation confirms full refrigerant levels Basement split Geo system is running in fair to good condition however ground loop water pressure was at 5:00 PSI and one of two flow center pumps is still non-functional. Repressurize ground loops for second floor system from 5 to 42psi, maximum house water pressure at new hot water tank

2024 Carrier AC running in great condition. 20x25x4 air filter in good condition. New left next to furnace. Visual inspection of indoor coil. Flush drain pan and drain lines. Run test unit in cooling mode from thermostat. Delta t of 20F with supply temp of 52F. Refrigerant pressures are within spec. Outdoor fan motor and compressor are operating within specs. Outdoor coils are in clean condition. System is operating properly, efficiently, and ready for Summer.
